With a Google™ account you have access to many useful web-based programs, one of them being blogspot. Creating a blog is as easy as one, two, three. Sign in, name the blog, and pick a template. Your blog is ready for your first post. The blog can hold videos, pictures, text, links and on top of that, it is all free.

The use of Wikispaces™

A wiki is a collaborative space which enables people all around to world to edit it. A wiki is a great and modern way to present work so that anyone can edit it, anytime, anywhere.

Our class uses Wikispaces™, for group work so that we can edit it at home as well as school.

The 'Modern' Portfolio

BBI uses a school friendly site called 'Knowledge Net'. This allows students to participate in class forums, pages, and discussions. We are also allowed to make our own personalized e-Portfolios. Knowledge Net allows the teacher to look at the students work as well. We can put any type of information in our e-Portfolio. At the moment most of it is about school related. You can control who sees the information. Any random person CANNOT see it, you have to be a member of Knowledge Net. The advantages would have to be that, you can access it from any computer with Internet connection, and your teacher can check it whenever, without you having to hand in a folder. Creating your own e-Portfolio is REALLY fun. You can do all sorts of different things, using templates etc. There is a down side to using Knowledge Net. Whenever you try and access anything on Knowledge Net it goes through Knowledge Net's server, which makes it quite slow!

Welcome to Podcasting With Garage Band 3

This Apple product comes as a package with iLife. There are many uses for this popular application. Storylines, podcasts with pictures, and personalised songs to name a few. It is easy to use and can export to iWeb and iTunes making it available for loading onto Web 2 pages.

Technology in the classroom

Our class uses technology in our everyday learning situations. Over the year, we have used podcasts, blogs and wikis to present reflections and group work. In our day to day learning activities, our teacher uses Web 2.0 sites such as You Tube™, Blogspot™ and Wikispaces™ to teach us our 'Inquiry' and 'Literacy' sessions. We are currently using animated programs to tell us about persuasive writing.

Our school has divided its classrooms into 'Teams' of 4. Each team has 6 laptops and one projector to share over the weeks. We also have a 'Pod' of 5 or 6 desktops and 2 desktops per classroom. That makes an average of 5 computers or laptops per class. These computers are accessible through the school day to use for leisure and study work.

We really enjoy using technology in the classroom because it offers instant information and multimedia. It saves time using the vast range of 21st century technology because we have it right at our fingertips.
